My total profile is entirely different compared to all others. After SSC , i did my diploma(DEEE) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering . I was college topper at there. Even though i got good rank of 102 in ECET ( state GOVT Engineering Entrance test) to get into top college( Osmania University) of the state , because of my economical constraints i went for a Govt job ( TELECOM TECHNICAL ASSISTANT in BSNL ). I worked for 5 years there. During my tenure at BSNL, i have completed my B tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering through correspondence. I have continuously worked hard to achieve good GATE Rank of 217 to join for Masters in IIT ROORKEE. Hi Mukul -
Need your help on the below.
I’m currently working for an MNC company for the past 7 years and aiming to do an MBA. 2 things -> If i come to US on a work visa (H1B)and have a good GMAT score, will i be able to do part-time MBA?.
–> Related to above. If i happen to travel to US before giving a GMAT exam in india , can i give the exam while staying in US and still apply for admission to any of the B schools?.
Your response would definetly help me to plan out..
Thanks,
Lakshmi
Hi Mukul,
Your website is awesome. Your story is almost fit for a movie
Now that you have mentioned that with a 770 and an IIT degree it was hard for you to make it into TUCK. What are the chances that an average student with a good GMAT (720), Masters and working in USA from an avg college have even into making into the top 15 schools ? I understand it takes more to evaluate experience, essays and more.
In all candor do you even know any non IIT student who made it into the top 10 ? Does that happen at all ?
I appreciate the time and effort behind this website.
Hi, mukul I have recently come across your blog and found it interesting that some from India is into this passionately. well I am from India and have been in the U.S from past 3 yrs in California and have recently started preparing for the gmat. Now if i am correct with my news then Gmat test patterns are about to change very soon by June 1st that leaves me with very little time to finish preparing n taking the gmat. So, now as u have written this earlier in your blog that u like to help so you need to help me as I need tips on how to become a good test taker. I know most of the things about Gmat and the course but i think I am not a very good Test taker especially when it a long sitting test. You can contact me on my email or send me a facebook message.
Thanks
Molly.

Hi Mukul – I just had a specific query – you mention in your post that top b-schools prefer IB/Consulting /Non Profit.
Do you suggest then a candidate should take up some non-profit work to bolster his/her profile.??
Also do you think Tuck as a school is more open to NON ” IB/Consulting /Non Profit” profiles. Any other schools like this among the top B-schools, who are open to profiles which are not from the traditional feeder firms.
Apart from getting a good gmat score any other tips you may have on enhancing application.
Would be helpful if you could share some thoughts.
Have posted this query on your website also.
Thanks
Misha

Hi Mukul,
I am a graduate from Pilani. I have completed 1.5 months in job. I want to appear for executive programs because I have my own start up plans. I can’t put in more than an year in MBA. So I am looking for options like ISB since next year I will have a 2 yr experience. What are the other good MBA options for 1 year program, whether Indian or foreign?
Hello sir,
Myself Sagar, doing my Btech, 3rd Year, very passionate to do MBA not because of money or everyone is doing, but i have zeal to understand the core of business, i have great interest in marketing, business development, management consulting, read a lot of books on Leadership, Organisation Structures, Learning organisations, Decision effectiveness and all, i really want to get into some good B- school, but presently doing engineering, not from that good school as u “IIT”, but apart from college i am doing lot of stuffs, so can u help me in suggesting something how to get a good a work experience after my grad so that i can improve upon my accomplishments, and how to work out for GMAT?
Hi Mukul,
First of all heart felt thanks for such a wonderful guidance. I would like to know about the latest deadlines of B-schools as the deadlines posted in your blog don’t seem to be latest.
Also what does it take for a working professional with 3 years of work experience in a Services IT Company to make it big in the IVY leagues?
Thanks a lot in Advance.
Hi Mukul,
I am getting ready to follow your journey in the GMAT/MBA world! I am excited and motivated to start learning!
I went to your part of the site where it has downloads and you mention you have to be a member of… pointshare?… but then you say you don’t need to. I wanted to get some of the documents like the quant equation cheat sheet and some of the AWA topics but it will not give me access. Is there another way I can access these?
Please let me know! AND THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR HELP! YOUR SITE IS AWESOME!!!
Nik

My friend and I are interested in GMAT tutoring. We both plan to take the test in 2 months. Do you still tutor GMAT? Are you available to tutor for 2 months until we take the exam.

Dear Mukul,
If you scored 770 why did you go to Tuck?Could you also put your GMAT score report online for us to see that your claims are correct?I mean 770 is a beautiful score, shouldn’t be a problem for you.
Waiting for your score report.
Thanks,
Jacob.
Dude, its a free website to help everyone who is taking the GMAT. Believe it or not, there are a couple of folks here with a 770 and even higher score. How would you know if I put up a photoshopped score report up here? Rather than being so cynical about my score, why dont you invest the time and effort in your exam.
Btw, putting up score reports is not allowed as per GMAC’s terms and condition. I can only ask them to report it to the school/institution. Thanks for dropping by though. Hope this site helps you.
And Tuck is a great school. Once you can come out of the brand/ranking mentality, and start seeing your fit, you would understand.
Dear Mukul,
I am in no way trying to question your score.I am just trying to spam out the weed from the real folks. There are so many folks out there who claim to be GMAT wizard and offer free advise. While on one hand it is free advise but on other hand it is the worst advise they can offer to people. The script in all the cases is pretty much the same.A great GMAT score followed by cool prep. methods. But in reality their score is not that great. Most of them have not even taken GMAT.So, being a savvy person I question everything before following it.I don’t see anything wrong in that. And as I said,it is a beautiful score, worth flaunting, why not just post it here.I am not asking you to post a scanned copy, which you rightly mentioned can be photoshopped and what not.GMAC provides you with a link(a url) and PIN number which you can share with anyone who wants to see and download your score report and in fact can post it on your website.
There is no GMAC terms and conditions, which will stop you from flaunting your great GMAT score.I believe you and that is why I want you to stand correct and tall.
Thanks,
Jacob
Hey Jacob,
So I hear your argument and agree with it. Sadly, MBA.com no longer keeps my report. They keep it for 5 years, and if you don’t ask to keep it for another two years, they remove it from the records. I took it in 2006, which is a long back. I don’t know what other way is there to prove it. Sadly at this point its not even worth the effort to do so.
If you had anyone at Tuck, I guess you could ask him/her!!
Anyways best of luck with your MBA journey. My convocation is next week! And I will be working at Deloitte, Boston starting July. The whole thing was totally worth it for me
No worries.I wish you all the best in all your future endeavors!
Hi Mukul
